Woman In Gold

Have you seen the recent film, Woman in Gold, starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds? It’s based on the true story of Maria Altmann, a Jewish refugee who fought the government of Austria to get back a Gustav Klimt painting stolen from her family by the Nazis. Klimt painted the “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I” in 1907, in oil, silver, and gold on canvas. Elaborate and brilliant, the Art Nouveau painting of the Viennese salon lady is anything but dull.

“Tribute to L’Accomplissement” and “L’Attente” are mixed media tributes to the Klimt painting by French artist, Roland Renaud, and they’re for sale here at Design House. Painted on sheet metal with gold leaf, the artworks depict a couple embracing and an Egyptian woman, respectively.
